I’ve always been interested in fashion so at 13 yo I did a year in a school that proposed fashion design class in Belgium. I was quickly concerned about the impact of fast fashion because of all the steps (from creating the patterns with papers, preparing the prototypes with cheap fabrics, the assembling with the actual textiles to finalise them) that I dropped my study. It was way too much waste.
After a year through a minimalism journey, I mostly dress in second hand/thrifts/vintage shops and alternate slightly my clothes for a better fitting. So I rarely go shopping and prefer independent small business designers. So the upcycling is an obvious solution to reuse/recreate new pieces by adding my own touch. Everything I do I would see myself wearing it.
